This privacy policy applies to the Studynote app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices that was created by Studynote (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a Freemium service, with lesson content unlocked through a paid subscription. This service is intended for use "AS IS".

The Application collects information when you download and use it. This information may include information such as:

• Your device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address)
• The pages of the Application that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages
• The time spent on the Application
• The operating system you use on your mobile device

The Application does not gather precise information about the location of your mobile device.

The Service Provider may use the information you provided to contact you from time to time to provide you with important information, required notices and marketing promotions.

For a better experience, while using the Application, the Service Provider may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information, including but not limited to Email, userId, birthday. The information that the Service Provider request will be retained by them and used as described in this privacy policy.

To unlock lessons, you subscribe using your mobile phone number. We collect your phone number and share it with our Direct Carrier Billing (DCB) partners, Ideamart (which serves Dialog, Hutch and Airtel numbers) and mSpace (which serves Mobitel numbers), so that they can verify your number by OTP, register your subscription, and bill it to your mobile account on our behalf. We also store your subscription status (e.g. registered, pending, unregistered) and a record of each charge (date and amount) so we can grant or revoke access to lessons and help you if there is a billing issue. We do not collect or store your card, bank, or other payment details — payment is handled entirely by your mobile operator through Ideamart or mSpace.

Cancelling your subscription (Settings → Cancel Mobile Billing) stops future charges but does not delete the record of past charges, which we and our billing partners may be required to keep for accounting, audit, dispute-resolution and regulatory purposes. See our Terms and Conditions for how subscriptions, auto-renewal and cancellation work, including that uninstalling the Application does not, by itself, cancel or stop billing for an active subscription.

Except as described in the Advertising and Audience Matching section below, only aggregated, anonymized data is periodically transmitted to external services to aid the Service Provider in improving the Application and their service. The Service Provider may share your information with third parties in the ways that are described in this privacy statement.

Please note that the Application utilizes third-party services that have their own Privacy Policy about handling data. Below are the links to the Privacy Policy of the third-party service providers used by the Application:

• Ideamart (mobile subscription billing for Dialog, Hutch, Airtel)

• Amazon Web Services (hosting, file storage and transactional email)
• Google Ads (advertising and audience matching)
• TikTok Ads (advertising and audience matching)

The Service Provider may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:

• as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process;
• when they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
• with our mobile billing partners (Ideamart and mSpace), solely to register, verify, bill and manage your subscription as described above;
• with advertising platforms such as Google and TikTok, for advertising and measurement services as described in the Advertising and Audience Matching section below;
• with their trusted services providers who work on their behalf, do not have an independent use of the information we disclose to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.

The Service Provider shares user data with third parties, such as advertising platforms, for services like advertising. In particular, we may share the email address and mobile number associated with your account with Google (through its Google Ads Customer Match service) and with TikTok (through its TikTok Ads Custom Audiences service), so that these platforms can help us measure our advertising, avoid showing our ads to people who already use the Application, and find new users who may be interested in the Application. This information is hashed (converted into a coded form that cannot be read back) before it is uploaded, and each platform uses it only to match against its own accounts and for these advertising services, in line with Google's Customer Match policy and TikTok's advertising policies. We do not sell your personal information.

We do this with your consent, which you give when you register for the Application and accept this Privacy Policy, in accordance with Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing hello@studynote.app, and we will remove your email address and mobile number from future uploads to advertising platforms. You can also manage the ads TikTok shows you in the TikTok app's ad settings, and the ads Google shows you at My Ad Center.

You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling it. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network.

Important: uninstalling the Application only stops the Application from collecting data on your device — it does not cancel an active mobile subscription. Your subscription is billed by your mobile operator against your phone number through Ideamart or mSpace, and will keep auto-renewing and charging you even after the Application has been uninstalled, until you cancel it. To stop charges, cancel your subscription from Settings → Cancel Mobile Billing before you uninstall or stop using the Application. This is your responsibility; the Service Provider is not responsible for charges that continue because a subscription was not cancelled first.

The Service Provider will retain User Provided data for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable time thereafter, except that subscription and billing records (such as charge history) may be retained for longer where needed for accounting, audit or legal purposes. If you'd like them to delete User Provided Data that you have provided via the Application, please contact them at hello@studynote.app and they will respond in a reasonable time.

The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13.

The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case the Service Provider discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, the Service Provider will immediately delete this from their servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact the Service Provider (hello@studynote.app) so that they will be able to take the necessary actions.

The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. The Service Provider provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information the Service Provider processes and maintains.

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes to the Privacy Policy by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.

This privacy policy is effective as of 2024-06-16 and was last updated on 2026-10-03.

By using the Application, you are consenting to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us.
